It began to support a few local bands of high school kids from Pennsauken. I had very little equipment and few resources but had the desire to see these artists grow. All ages shows in basements and VFW halls were the only way to get the music "out there". The more me and my friends got involved with these shows the more we began to put them on ourselves. It be came very obvious that good sound was important at these shows but we couldn't afford to hire sound. Some of our first sound systems were of borrowed speakers and equipment from these supported bands. Once we had a reliable system worked out we offered it to others for a gas money or less them $100. We did this to help the scene since it would be better for our bands to have more shows happening in the area. The money helped to buy better equipment and help us put on shows. Over time the bands we supported broke up and members moved on to go out of state to college, get married, and get real jobs. After learning how to do sound on a small budget for small audiences with little equipment it became obvious that balance and clarity were most important not volume. By buying the right equipment one piece at a time I designed a system that bands like to play on and lets audiences enjoy the artists. Common problems such as guitars being too loud at all ages shows quickly disappeared by placing speakers correctly and simply asking people to turn down. Quality improved as we looked for other ways to help bands sound great with out simply getting bigger louder equipment. No body in the world does sound like Airport Circle. Musicians and audiences expect a certain level of service at a show and we meet that with all of our sound packages that we've developed. From a small rental system for less than $100 to our large custom setups we always make sure that a show sounds great. |
